How Laws Are Created and Changed

The natural question is: how are laws created in America? You will see why every step of the way it is important to not have any Republicans in the process. There are plenty of Democrats that will have the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States in mind -- do not worry about that.

When reading the information below, imagine what it would be like to not have a single Republican standing in the way of your gun regulation bill becoming a law, until, of course, your bill makes it to the United States Supreme Court which has been packed with very conservative Republicans.

Supreme Court Justices are simply "sleeper cells" waiting to be awakened by those who put them there.

  • Step 1: Your bill changing America's gun laws is drafted.
Any member of the Senate or the House or Representatives (that you elected) can draft a bill. The subject of a bill can come from you, me, or from any citizen or advocacy group -- like ggwgebgwg for example. The bill is "sponsored" and "co-sponsored" by the person you elected.
  • Step 2: Your bill is introduced.
The bill is introduced. When the/your bill is introduced, it is published on Congress.gov,
the government website that tracks federal legislation.

  • Step 3: The bill goes to a committee.
As soon as your bill is introduced, it is referred to a committee. Both the House and Senate have committees composed of Congress members (that you elected). Hearings allow opinions of the executive branch, experts, other public officials and supporters, and opponents of the bill. If the committee does not act on a bill, the bill dies.
  • Step 4: A Subcommittee will review your bill. Subcommittees may make changes to the bill and must vote to refer a bill back to the full committee.
  • Step 5: Committee marks up of your bill.
When the hearings and subcommittee review are completed, they may make changes and amendments prior to recommending the bill to the full chamber of Congress.
  • Step 6: Voting by the full chamber on the bill.
Once the bill reaches the floor of Congress, there is additional debate and members of the full chamber vote to approve any amendments. The bill is then passed or defeated by the members voting.
  • Step 7: Your bill is sent to the other legislative chamber.
When the House or Senate passes your bill, it is referred to the other chamber where it is examined and perhaps changed. Both the House and Senate must vote to approve your bill.
  • Step 8: Your bill goes to the President of the United States.
After the House and the Senate have approved your bill, it is sent to the President. If the President approves of the legislation, it is signed and becomes law. The President may veto the bill.
  • Step 9: The President’s veto may be overridden by the Senate and House.
If both the Senate and the House pass the bill by a two-thirds majority, the President's veto is overruled, and the bill becomes a law.

Please Vote Every Republican Out Of Office

However, the United States Supreme Court, appointed by the President and the Senate, can declare your law "unconstitutional" and your law is dead even after all that work and time to get it passed.

Remember, all Supreme Court Justices are nominated by the President, confirmed by the Senate, and hold their offices for the rest of their lives or until they retire.

Hopefully, you see why it is so important to vote every single Republican out of office -- for many reasons -- including getting your bill changing America's deadly, obscene gun laws turned into an actual law.

Imagine the changes to women's health care, environmental law improvement, fair tax codes, lessening the corruption in government, insuring every American's right to vote, separation of church and state (see Capitol Ministries links below), etc., etc., etc., with no Republicans in the way.
